Outreach
SANS pursues its mission of friendship and connectedness through song in other countries every year when we travel abroad, but we also engage in outreach here in our own community. We have performed at retirement homes, at shelters, and at local festivals, in collaboration with other Boston-area choruses and by ourselves.
We often perform at Rosie’s Place, a women’s shelter in Roxbury and at the Italian Home for Children in Jamaica Plain.
Every few years, SANS hosts a chorus from one of the countries we have visited. Most recently, we have hosted two choruses from South Africa, a country to which SANS feels strongly connected and in which we have built lasting relationships. We also maintain a continued connection with our friends in the Houma Indian Nation in Louisiana.
